Khalid Watson American

Khalid Watson, has always had a background in fine arts.  Through high school he attended the "Governor's School for the Arts" in Norfolk, Virginia, but upon graduating enrolled into Pratt Institute, in Brooklyn, NY where he received a degree in Architecture.

For about a decade he was on hiatus from the art world, but when he returned he discovered that his paintings had taken on a much more process oriented trajectory, which directly correlated to his education in design.  Subdued, were the aggressive gestural strokes of his youth, and brought to the forefront were the structured zones and textures found in architectural space.

Currently he's exploring our relationships to nostalgia, and the connections we bond with "place" through the lense of new technology. For Khalid, the relativism of time allows for a collaging of contrasting ephemera into a single snapshot.
